COMPLICATIONS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF SPINAL METASTASES

ABSTRACT Objectives: To evaluate the complications of surgical treatment in a group patients with spinal metastasis epidural compression, undergoing treatment. Methods: This is comparative retrospective study (level evidence III), which evaluated 96 metastases Intra- and postoperative were obtained from patients’ medical records correlated following clinical characteristics: tumor type, location, neurological deficit, age, number affected vertebrae, Tokuhashi scale, Tomita Karnofsky performance type approach. Results: Complications observed 29 (30.20%) patients. Surgical wound infection was most frequent complication, 15% Conclusions: presents about 30% their occurrence should be considered planning, weighing risks benefits for achieving goals. Level III evidence; Retrospective Study.
